What this market video covers
A bounce after a decline does not mean the drawdown has recovered. This historical ExxonMobil IEX replay uses forty one completed five minute closing observations from October eighth, twenty twenty six. We measure drawdown from each running closing peak, not from intrabar highs. The largest closing peak to subsequent closing trough decline in this window goes from one sixty eight point nine nine to one sixty seven point four seven dollars. Divide the one dollar fifty two cent loss by the prior peak. Drawdown depth is approximately zero point nine zero percent. The final close rebounds to one sixty seven point eight two, still below the prior peak. Recovery is not observed before this window ends. Depth and recovery duration answer different questions. Changing the start date or using intrabar extremes changes the measurement. This is a retrospective description, not a forecast that price must return to the peak.
